Disciples Church Extension Fund

INDIANAPOLIS — Disciples Church Extension Fund has named Rev. Angéle Saunders Johnson, M.Div. its new Chief Administrative Officer. 

Rev. Johnson has over 20 years of corporate, faith-based, and nonprofit experience, which includes 10 years of executive leadership experience in corporate training, performance management, and financial fraud. In her new role, she will lead operations and support services for the organization. 

“I am blessed and excited to welcome Rev. Angéle Saunders Johnson to our leadership team,” said Belinda R. King, President and CEO of Disciples Church Extension Fund. “Her experience within the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and extensive gifts in the areas of visioning, operations, project management, and strategic planning will be an asset to our Senior Leadership Team as we lean into what is next to help our congregations and regions evolve into vital ministry. We look forward to all she will bring to this ministry.” 

Rev. Johnson is ordained in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and has served in various capacities on the local, regional, and general Church levels. Her more recent service includes Executive Director of Disciples Women’s Ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), pastoral staff at Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church, The Christian Church in Tennessee’s Anti-Racist/Pro-reconciling and Healthy Boundaries Training Commissions, and as the Co-Chair of the Commission on Ministry for the region of Tennessee. 

She earned a bachelor’s degree from Alabama A&M University and a Master of Divinity with a Kelly Miller Smith Institute Certificate in Black Church Studies from Vanderbilt University. There, she received Honors Distinction for her thesis. Additionally, her graduate work includes a Master of Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wake Forest University.

Johnson. “I am excited to continue serving the Christian Church in this new role and look forward to being an integral part of increasing DCEF’s capacity to create new pathways to the kindom of God through its work.”
