“We have come this far by faith” is a popular Christian song that describes the journey of Real Faith Christian Church in Clarksdale, Miss. “It has been a faithful journey,” says Zedric Clayton, pastor of the church. “By faith, I believe that God has shown our congregation the importance of Christian partnership.”

The Real Faith congregation celebrated the grand opening of its new worship space on Easter Sunday. The celebration included a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the mayor of Clarksdale, Bill Luckett, and two worship services attended by more than 400 people from the community.

“I’m thankful to God for the many contributions, both monetary and in-kind, that have been provided to our church,” says Zedric. “Because the Disciples of Christ have come alongside our congregation and partnered with us, we now have a great space to worship and the ability to provide service to citizens in the local area.”

What a difference a year has made! In 2014, the Real Faith congregation worshiped in a small space that was connected to an unfinished shell of a building that only resembled a sanctuary and community center. Today, that unfinished shell is only a distant memory. The faithful journey has landed the congregation in a new state-of-the-art sanctuary with a community center available to serve local residents in the neighborhood.

Through the faithful efforts of Real Faith Christian Church and a great partnership with Disciples Church Extension Fund, Disciples Home Missions, the Great River Region, Disciples Volunteering, Disciples Women, Hope Partnership, National Convocation, Reconciliation Ministry and Week of Compassion, the congregation realized their goal of worshiping in their new sanctuary on Easter! This is an example of a faithful partnership at work!
